Edward Joe "Ed" Wheeler, beloved husband, father, grandfather, attorney, judge and community leader, passed away on February 4, 2026, at the age of 86. Born in La Villa, Texas, to William Hugh and Letha Mae Wheeler, Ed was a proud graduate of the University of Houston Law Center; an Army veteran; and a widely respected attorney in Pasadena, and the greater Houston area.

While attending the University of Houston Law center, Ed received various honors, including being published in the Law Review, serving as the Dean of his fraternity Delta Theta Phi, passed the state bar exam with special dispensation prior to graduating from law school without studying, while finishing near the top of his class.

Ed began his career as an assistant attorney for the City of Houston, served as the City Attorney for both Pasadena and South Houston. After serving as the City Attorney in Pasadena, Ed established his private law practice in 1980. Known for his unquestioned legal brilliance and compassion, he received numerous accolades, including being highlighted as an "Attorney's Attorney" by his peers, writing approximately 40 appellate briefs for local attorneys including a high-powered law firm in the City of Houston, as well as serving as a Municipal Court Judge for the City of Pasadena. He also served his community Chairing the Planning Commission for the City of Pasadena, he was a proud member of the Pasadena Bar Association, and a coach of a Pee Wee Football team. Ed was also an avid golfer and loved spending time with his friends!

Ed is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Jo Wheeler; his sons, Mark Allen Wheeler, and Michael Andrew Wheeler; his grandchildren, Derek, Dominique, Zoe and Reese, and his many beloved friends.

Ed will be deeply missed by all who knew him and remembered for his brilliance, passion, integrity, and dedication to family and community.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, February 20, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Rd., Houston, TX.
