Eddie Carter of Pasadena, Texas went to be with his Heavenly Father on May 1, 2023. Eddie was born on July 16, 1949 in Neodesha, Kansas, and was preceded in death by parents, Anita and Earl Green, and Edgar Carter.

Eddie is survived by his wife Gayle; his son J.P. Carter and wife Lana; daughter Sarah Kellam and husband Adam; and stepson Ryan Holder and wife Elyse. Eddie leaves behind his grandchildren: Reese and Blayke Carter; Adin, Gray, and Cole Kellam; and Emma Holder. Also grieving Eddie are his sisters: Lynn Gosser and husband Ted; Connie McPherson and husband Roger; Bonnie Carter; several nieces and nephews; and lifelong family friend Loyce Ann Taylor and husband Harve.

Eddie was baptized on May 12, 1957 at First Baptist Church in Chaffee, Missouri, and later became a member at First Baptist Church of Clarksville, Arkansas. Eddie graduated from Clarksville High School in 1967 and went on to attend College of the Ozarks where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. While in college, he served on the staff at Glorieta Baptist Assembly in Glorieta, New Mexico. Eddie worked the majority of his career as an outside salesman in the specialty metals business in Texas and Louisiana. He often joked when asked what he did for a living, "I sell nickels!"

Eddie was a proud father and supporter of his kids. He enjoyed watching J.P. march on the drumline in the Deer Park High School band and being a "Deer Escort Dad" for Sarah. He loved attending all their football games, competitions, and recitals, and especially enjoyed the Daddy-Daughter dance. Eddie's favorite times were spent in New Mexico. He loved visiting Glorieta, shopping the Indian Market on the square in Santa Fe, and staying in a cabin on the Pecos River. Santa Fe was undoubtedly where he preferred to indulge in one of his favorite meals, huevos rancheros (spoken in his intentional Texas-sounding "gringo" accent). Eddie also enjoyed taking cruises, especially on ships that boasted a 24-hour pizza buffet. When not attending events for his kids and grandkids, Eddie loved to play golf. If he wasn't playing for "a work thing," he hit the links with J.P. or his favorite foursomes.

Eddie's favorite title was "Pop." His unwavering support for his grandchildren and their interests were visible to anyone, and if you didn't notice, he'd tell you all about them. His proudest moments were watching them on the field, stage, court, or anywhere else they performed.

Eddie was an active member at several churches during his life, including First Baptist Pasadena, Memorial Baptist Church, and South Main Baptist Church. Eddie was generous with his time, his efforts, and his encouragement. He was selfless and would do anything for his family and friends.

To have known Eddie was to love Eddie, and he will be missed by so many. If you spent more than ten minutes with him, you very likely have an "Eddie story" that will keep his memory alive.

Eddie's family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to his caregivers at The Reserve as well as the staff of Magnolia Hospice.

The family will receive friends at Peevey Funeral Home, Saturday, May 6, from 3:00pm until 4:00pm., the service will follow at 4:00pm. Interment will be privately held at Forest Park East Cemetery.
