Douglas Lamar Hicks, lovingly known as Lamar, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 67 years old.

Born on October 19, 1958, to Charles and Melba Hicks, Lamar spent his life working hard, loving his family, and enjoying the great outdoors. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Hicks.

Lamar is survived by his devoted mother, Melba Hicks; his sisters, Melanie Beltram and her husband Douglas Beltram, and Kay Stein and her husband Daniel Stein; his son, Douglas Lamar Hicks Jr., and daughter-in-law, Kyla Hicks; and his beloved grandchildren, Kale, Korbin, and Vivian Hicks. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved dearly and who will cherish the memories they shared with him.

Lamar found his greatest joy outdoors. Whether he was hunting or fishing, he felt most at home in nature. Of all his outdoor pursuits, goose hunting—especially snow geese—was his favorite. He was also an avid NASCAR and football fan and was known for his unwavering loyalty to the University of Alabama. His enthusiastic cry of "Roll Tide!" was familiar to all who knew him.

A hardworking man throughout his life, Lamar took great pride in his work in the printing industry and as a welder. He believed in doing a job well and earning an honest living. More than anything, however, he was proud of his family. He celebrated their accomplishments, supported them through life's challenges, and loved them unconditionally.

His presence will be greatly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00pm., Friday, June 19, at Forest Park East Cemetery.
