Dorothy Sandel, 91, passed on January 4, 2024 in Pasadena, Texas.  She was born on March 2, 1932 in Overton, Texas to Charles and Helen Archer.  Her mother Helen passed away when Dorothy was 7 years old. Her father later moved the family to Houston, Texas.  Dorothy graduated from John H. Reagan High School in 1950 and Sam Houston State Teachers College in 1954.  While in college, she met Robert Thomas Sandel; they were married on February 21, 1953.  Robert died in 1969 leaving Dorothy to raise their five children.

Dorothy taught elementary school for 28 years for Pasadena ISD.  She loved traveling and was a world traveler including two trips to the Holy Land with her church, First Baptist Church of Pasadena.  Dorothy loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was assured of her salvation.

Dorothy lived a long, giving, and caring life. She is survived by daughter Beverly Sandel; son, Robert Sandel and wife, Tanya; daughter, Donna Clegg and husband, William; son John Sandel and wife, Sherry; and son James Sandel; eight grandchildren: Jeremy Sandel, Khristin Noel, Jennifer Clegg, Justin Sandel, Christopher Sandel, Stephen Clegg, Amy Cronan, and Travis Sandel and their spouses, and 15 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her older sister Diane Moore and younger brother Jon Archer.

Those honored as pallbearers are grandsons; Jeremy, Justin, Christopher, Stephen, and Travis and grandsons-in-law Dale Noel, Nick Cronan, and Randy Vega.
