Doris Jean Theresa Marie Forness Cadmus, age 92, of League City, TX left this earth on September 4, 2022 and is now at peace in the presence of the Lord. Doris was born January 27, 1930 in Belleville, IL to parents Emil and Clara Forness, the 3rd of 9 children. She is survived by her siblings: Darleen Bietsch, Thomas Forness, Mary Ann Ralph, Ruth Ann Adams. Preceded in death by siblings Joseph Forness, Roger Forness, Ellen Rothweiler, and Juanita Forness.

Doris is survived by 6 of her 9 children; Connie Prewitt, Linda Kitto, Debbie Dashnaw, Richard Cadmus, Becky Johnson, and Chris Cadmus. She is preceded in death by her daughter Margaret, and her sons Stephen and Greg; and is survived by 18 of her 19 grandchildren, and her 27 great-grandchildren.

Doris was a very warm, loving, and giving person with lots of hugs to give and listening ears when needed. Spending time with her could make any bad day turn around and she could make everyone laugh with her quick comebacks and sarcasm. Doris was very creative, having her hand in numerous crafts including crocheting, embroidery, and ceramics. She used her talents to ensure that every special occasion was just that, but loved none more than Easter. From decorating cakes to setting up festive centerpieces, Doris always went above and beyond. She also loved to sing happy birthday to each of her family members in her own "special" way (loud and off-key). Doris loved her gardens and flowers, with roses, orchids, and violets being her favorites.

Doris was of German heritage but was extremely proud of her Irish roots, and in honor of that, an Irish blessing: May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back, May the sunshine warm your face, the rain fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. Amen

And with this being said, we love you and miss you very much Mom, Grandma, Grannyma, Great Grandma.

A Graveside service will be held at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Friday Sept. 9, 2022 at 1:30pm., flowers may be sent to Peevey Funeral Home in Houston, TX.
