Donnie Joe King, 75, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 10, 2026.

Donnie was born on October 11, 1950, in Sweetwater, Texas, to R.L. and Martha King. The family, including Donnie's older brother, Jerry, spent a brief time in Sweetwater before moving to Webster, where Donnie spent his childhood years, and later settling in La Marque for his high school years.

He attended La Marque High School and played football for the La Marque Tigers. After graduation, Donnie enrolled in the College of the Mainland Law Enforcement Academy. Upon graduating from the Academy, Donnie began working for the University of Texas Medical Center Police Department. Shortly thereafter, Donnie transferred to the Pasadena Police Department, where he worked for many years before retiring in 2003. Donnie loved law enforcement and worked in a variety of areas, including patrol, the motorcycle unit, undercover auto theft investigation, and SWAT. Donnie also enjoyed working extra jobs during his time off, particularly when he was assigned to John Travolta as his bodyguard during the filming of Urban Cowboy.

Donnie married Mitzi Pizzitola in 1978. Their son, Casey, was born in 1990. The family moved to Lake Conroe following Donnie's retirement, where he enjoyed the lake life. A few years into their time in Conroe, Donnie went back to work as an investigator for the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office. He later retired permanently to enjoy more of the lake life in 2013.

Donnie enjoyed fishing, playing golf, a cold Crown and Coke, grilling his famous ribs, and spending time with his beloved family. Donnie particularly loved going on guided fishing trips with his two sons, Craig and Casey. He was a doting grandfather who loved his "babies," as he always called them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, R.L. and Martha King, and his brother, Jerry King.

Donnie is survived by his wife, Mitzi; his son, Casey, of Fort Worth, Texas; his son, Craig, and wife Brittany and his grandchildren Nate and Evie, of Houston, Texas; along with many wonderful friends.

The service honoring Donnie's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, Texas 77089, with visitation one hour prior to the service.  The funeral service will then proceed to Grand View Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, Texas 77505.
