Donald "Don" Rau, 86, of La Porte, Texas, was born in Morrison, Oklahoma, on March 30, 1939, and went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 19, 2026.

Don was the youngest of six children born to Percy Walter Rau and Bessy Mae Rau. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Walter and George; his sisters, Gladys Tate, Bonnie Shields, and Virginia Lagal; his beloved wife, Linda Rau; and his son, Donny Rau.

He is survived by his son, Kevin Rau and wife Cathy of Pearland, Texas; his grandchildren Amanda Cabrera and husband Dayan, Christopher Rau and wife Mariana, Jonathan Rau, Ashley Wickander and husband Aaron, Frank Russell Cardenas and wife Samantha, Amber Batura and husband Chris, and Christian Rau and wife Annie; and his great-grandchildren Ryleigh Rich, Caleb Cabrera, Liam Batura, Allyria Cardenas, Hosannah Rau, Jace Davey, David Rau, Nathan Wickander, Owen Rau, Hope Cardenas, Esther Rau, Abigail Wickander, Blair Rau, Aria Cabrera, and Eden Rau. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and countless friends and family who were blessed to know him.

Don committed his life to Christ at the age of 15 and remained a faithful follower throughout his life. He and Linda were shining examples of the Christian faith to their sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Together, they served quietly and faithfully, never seeking recognition, trusting that their reward was laid up in Heaven. Don was a devoted member of Dominion Church in Dickinson, Texas.

In 1961, Don proudly joined the United States Army, where he served with the 16th Engineer Battalion at Fort Hood and Fort Leonard Wood.

In the summer of 1962, Don met the love of his life, Linda Stuteville, in Big Spring, Texas. They were married on November 30, 1962, beginning a beautiful marriage that would span 49 years. They made their home in Big Spring before relocating to La Porte, Texas, in 1972, where Don began his career with PPG Industries. He retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service. He took great pride in his work and life he built for his family.

Don was the kind of man who never met a stranger and rarely left a room without making someone smile. With a quick wit and playful spirit, he had a way of turning ordinary moments into lasting memories. He had a lifelong gift for finding just the right amount of "trouble"—the harmless, fun kind that brought laughter and stories that will be shared for years to come.

While he will be deeply missed, we find comfort in knowing he leaves behind a legacy filled with love and that he is now home with his Savior.

The funeral service will be held at Peevey Funeral Home, Thursday, March 26th, at 10:30am, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Grand View Memorial Park.
