Don Cliff Baughman, Sr. joined his parents in Heaven on January 9, 2023, in Houston, Texas, with his loving wife Pat by his side. Don lived a long and full life, celebrating his 83rd birthday just over a week before he passed.

Don, son of Harry Clifford Baughman and Helen Katheryn Hill Baughman, was born in Austin, Texas, on December 30th, 1939. He grew up in Austin and graduated from McCallum High School before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1958, remaining in the Reserves for ten years. Don went on to graduate from the University of Texas in 1965, earning a Bachelor's in Business Administration. His first job following college was at Tenneco Corp. where he worked in the Risk Management group. He progressed his way through the insurance industry by joining various companies before ultimately retiring from Marsh McClennan after a 20-year tenure. From his accomplished insurance career came a 40+ year client (and friend) relationship with Deep East Texas Self Insurance Fund.

Don met his beautiful bride Patricia Maude Fansler on a blind date in 1965, and the couple subsequently married in Houston, Texas, in 1966. They established the Circle B Ranch in Iowa Colony, Texas soon after, on which Don built his family's forever home from the ground up. Circle B Ranch became the homestead where the couple raised their three children. Don and Pat recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on November 5th, 2022.

Don's passions included dove hunting, deer hunting, saltwater fishing, raising cattle and sheep, and all things agriculture-related, his love for which he passed on to his children, friends, and business partners. Some of Don's civic achievements included volunteering at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for over 20 years, playing an active role in the Alvin Ducks Unlimited Chapter, serving as Iowa Colony City Councilman, and being awarded Brazoria County Outstanding 4H Leader.

Don and Pat loved to host their family wherever possible, including places where Don was able to facilitate his passions of hunting and fishing and share those activities with his family. This included a bayhouse on Demi John Island in Freeport, Texas, and in 2005, Don and Pat were able to realize their lifelong dream of owning their own ranch in Brackettville, Texas.

Don had a passion for great food. Don's love for food was perfectly complemented by his wife Pat's knack for cooking delicious meals. Finally, Don was very proud to be "Poppop" to his eight grandchildren, to whom he also passed on his love for hunting, fishing, and all of the above.

Don is survived by his wife Pat; son Don Baughman Jr. with his wife Angie Rinehart Baughman and daughter Berkley; Son Travis Baughman with his wife Susan Higgins Baughman and children Alyssa, Aidan, Ava, and Andrew; Daughter Andrea Baughman Williams with her husband Troy Williams and daughters Shelby, Katheryn, and Megan; and brother-in-law Michael Fansler with his wife Barbara Fansler and daughters Lauren and Kathryn.

A memorial service will be held at Peevey Funeral Home Saturday, January 21, at 11:00am., the Rosary will be prayed at 10:00am, visitation will follow until 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations to Houston Hospice. The family cannot thank the staff of Houston Hospice enough for their care and accommodations during Don's last days.
