Deacon Pham Nguyen, born April 9th, 1958, entered into his eternal life with the Lord at the age of 68 on the afternoon of April 9th, 2026.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend; his laugh filled the room with joy. He went through life with an ever present smile on his face, always there for anyone in need with an enthusiastic "sure!". He loved his family deeply and was a friend to anyone who met him.

He was born in the coastal village of Phan Rang, Vietnam to Nguyen Tho and Nguyen Tu as the seventh of ten children. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and two of his brothers. He escaped Vietnam during the war and the Lord led him to America where he met the love of his life Xuan Dinh. They were married in 1986 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Houston, Texas and shared a joyful 40 years of marriage. They were true partners through life, running many successful business ventures together. They were blessed with 2 sons, whom Pham was incredibly proud of. His family meant the world to him, and no matter how busy he was, he always made time for family, often calling while he was driving just to say hello and chat, or stopping by on his way home from work with snacks just to chase his grandsons for a few minutes around the house and get a big hug.

His happiest moments were spending time with his family especially if it included BBQ for dinner. He loved learning and studying with his sons; checking their homework, answering questions they might have, even comparing notes during pharmacy school with his sons in college. He would wake up early, despite the time difference, and study with his son Ignatius before his big exams in pharmacy school. During his rare moments of free time, he loved to watch sports, where his sons fondly remember him peacefully resting on his favorite couch in front of a baseball game.

He was a faithful servant of the Lord and, though he achieved numerous academic distinctions from aerospace engineer to doctor of pharmacy, he considered being ordained as a deacon his highest honor and many knew him only as Thay Sau. He was known for his kindness, approachability, and as someone you could always rely on. He taught and managed countless Catechism and marriage preparation classes, baptisms, funerals and the youth ministry. He would often be found at the church during April at its annual crawfish festival, in his familiar golf cart, taking out the garbage.

Though Deacon was his primary calling, his work-life did not end there. His legacy will be remembered by all the friends he made at Lockheed-Martin and the countless patients and colleagues he knew through the 4 pharmacies he created. He put his all into everything he did and always went above and beyond. As a pharmacist he worked not only at the pharmacy but alongside several hospice companies, leaving in the late hours of the night to drive to the far reaches of Houston, to ensure that patients would find comfort in their last moments.

He is survived by his wife Xuan Dinh, his sons Ignatius Anh-Phi Nguyen and Dominic Anh-Phong Nguyen; his daughter-in-law Nassim Nguyen; grandsons Cyrus Khanh Nguyen and Sami Khoa Nguyen; his siblings and countless extended family and friends who will deeply miss him and were blessed to have known him.

A wake will be held on Thursday April 23rd at 6:30pm.

Visitation will be held on Friday April 24th from 2-6pm with mass service at 6:30pm followed by a vigil service with his deacon friends and priests at 7:30pm.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on April 25th at 9am.
