David Edward Thornton, 54, died on August 15, 2025 at his home in Taylor Lake Village, Texas.  David was born in San Diego, California, the son of Ed and Frankie Thornton of Bonita, who predeceased him.

David was very active in sports from an early age, playing both soccer and baseball.  He took up golf at the age of nine and it was his lifelong passion.  David was actively involved in San Diego and Los Angeles County Junior Golf Associations as well as being named to the AJGA Rolex Junior All-American Team in 1986, the same year he placed second in the Junior World Tournament.

He graduated from Bonita Vista High School, where he captained the boys golf team for four years, before attending Southern Methodist University.  He continued to play golf recreationally throughout his life and built a successful sales career in the telecommunications infrastructure industry.  David is well remembered as an outgoing and sociable person who cared deeply about his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife Teresa, stepsons Ethan and Micah Maresca, his sister Shelley, brother-in-law Paul of Chicago, Illinois, his niece, Beth and nephew, Ben.

The service celebrating David's life will be held at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, TX 77089, at 7:00pm, Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
