Homer David Wingo, Jr. a beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on July 22, 2024, at the age of 79. David grew up in Park Place where he attended Park Place Elementary. He made lifelong friends who he still holds dear to this day. David was a devoted husband to his wife, Linda, of 56 years. They met at Milby High School and married on Linda's birthday, July 13, 1968. David was drafted during the Vietnam War, but God had other plans. Medical issues discovered during the examination led him down a different path. From 1972, they called Sagemont Park their home for 30 years and raised their family until they moved to Ashley Point in 2004.

David's most cherished accomplishment was his family. He enjoyed daily interaction with his kids and grandkids, and spent countless hours watching sporting events, recitals, coaching, and was never at a loss to tell them how proud he was of them. His words of encouragement and "I love yous" were given to each one of his kids and grandkids, and he always needed his hugs from each one. He never met a stranger and would visit and talk to anyone as if he'd known them forever. His stories, love for history, the military, and genealogy of family brought him great joy. David was a man of faith. He knew Christ as his savior, and we know without a doubt we will see him again one day.

He graduated from Houston Baptist College in 1968 and held various jobs until he found his career in law enforcement with Harris County Precinct 1 Constable Department. From 1978 until his retirement in 2006, he served the Houston community in various roles with the department. In his 32-year career, David impacted many, including those he worked with and people in the community. David was a proud member of the Grand Masonic Lodge of Texas Park Place Chapter. He was a Master Mason actively serving for 46 years.

David was born in Houston, Texas on October 1, 1944, to parents Homer David Wingo Sr. and Maxine Melinda (Bonner) Wingo. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Phillips) Wingo, his children Matt and his wife Angie, Mindy and husband Russ, Mark and girlfriend Tracy, Morgan and wife Gina, sister-in-law Dorthy Eastabrooks and family, grandchildren Brittany, Brooke and husband Adam, Bailey and Parker, Hailegh and Jonathan, Kyleigh and fiancé Drew, Kinley, Kelsi, Macayla, Blaine, Madison, Kaleb, Sofia, and Jaidynn. Preceded in death are his parents Homer Wingo and Maxine Wingo. David will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. His legacy of love and devotion will live on forever.

A memorial visitation in honor of David Wingo will be held from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, Wednesday July 31, 2024, at Peevey Funeral Home located at 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, Texas 77089.
