The world lost a great man on August 5, 2025, when David L. Carpenter of Santa Fe, TX, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord.

David was a man full of life, humor, and unforgettable stories. He had a unique way of lighting up a room, whether through his quick wit, his laughter, or his ability to make every person feel like an old friend. Though we imagine God is still hearing about some of his more adventurous life choices, we know the angels are celebrating his arrival — probably with a race and a great party. He was one of a kind and will be deeply missed.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Corlis and Jean Carpenter, brother, Bob, and sisters, Dale and Susan.

David is survived by his son, Kris, a man who mirrors his father's strength, thoughtfulness, and steady presence; his daughter-in-law, Trisha, with whom he shared countless laughs, chocolate shakes, and stories of his life; his two beautiful granddaughters, Kylee and Brooke, whom he adored and were a light in his life; and niece, Heather Harkleroad of Portsmouth, VA.

In keeping with David's wishes, no formal services will be held. Family and friends are encouraged to honor his memory by enjoying a glass of their favorite adult beverage and watching a good race in his name.
