It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Stearns Benoist January 21, 2022 in Missouri City, Texas at the age of 63. He was called home to the Lord, and greeted by his father Dudley S. Benoist and his mother Patricia Benoist.

He was predeceased by: grandparents Patricia Davis, Conde A. Benoist and Katherine Benoist; his parents Dudley S., mother Patricia (Paddy), step mum Elsie, and his brother Dudley William.

He was survived and loved by his brother Michael Benoist, sister, Cynthia Musacchia and husband Terry, stepbrother David Carroll and wife Debbie, stepsister Lynn and husband Marty Meyers, nephew Shane Benoist, niece Rachel and husband Charles Reddy, and great nephews Cash Reddy and Calem Reddy.

David Stearns Benoist was born October 23, 1958 in Galveston Texas to Dudley and Patricia (Paddy) Benoist. He grew up in Houston Texas. He graduated from Furr High School.

David had many interests. He loved swimming and he competed in the Special Olympics for many years. He also ran relays in the Special Olympics. He has an unbelievably large treasure trove of medals. David attended Camp Cougar hosted by U of H. He liked camping so much he attended both summer sessions offered by the camp. Because of his love of the outdoors and camping David became a Boy Scout where he enjoyed years of camping, fishing and other activities.

As a teenager, he like both his older brothers, had a paper route. His mom drove him around and he threw the papers. He had the whole route memorized! He also liked bowling looked forward to his Thursday night bowling games. He had his own shoes, ball and bag. He was quite competitive. He also enjoyed dancing. He didn't mind being the first on the floor when the music started. He had some smooth moves.

David had quite a singing voice. It didn't matter to him if he knew the words or not, he would cheerfully sing along. He was also known to sing in his "opera voice" hitting a high pitch, ear piercing, extremely long quivering tune, in one unbelievably long breath. David's musical talents went beyond singing. He also played the ukulele and sang.

David also loved to dress up as law enforcement officers. He dressed as HPD wearing a light blue shirt, badge and visor hat. Later, he promoted himself to Sheriff. He had the cowboy hat, tan shirts, star badge and cowboy boots. He took his law enforcement serious. Those who broke the law he put in jail. And he didn't mind standing guard over you in jail. He had a desk setup with papers and pen to serve as his official office. To get out of jail you had to sign the paper promising you were going to be good.

David was a good cook. He loved to make his favorite meal which was spaghetti. He would wear a high white chef's hat, and apron while patiently stirring the sauce. His spaghetti was really good. He also loved to make scrambled eggs.

David was a kind and giving person who loved and was loved by so many. He will be greatly missed.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 29, at 11:00am., with visitation one hour prior to the service. at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, Texas 77089. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 7801 Gulf Fwy, Dickinson, TX 77539.
