Darlene Annette McGee, 71, of La Porte, Texas, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021 in Pasadena, Texas. Born September 11, 1949 in Houston, Texas to Ishmael John Tyra and Helen Marie Tyra.

A graduate of Galena Park Senior High, class of 1967, she began working at the age of 16 with her mother in HR/Payroll at the old Tidelands/Rockglen Hospital in Northshore and continued working in the field until her retirement from Exel Logistics, Inc. in 2013 after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

Darlene was a loving mother, Nana, sister, aunt, and friend known for her quick wit, infectious laughter, and love of all things family. Whether it was a huge soiree or an impromptu after work cup of coffee with one or more of her 3 sisters, she was happiest in the company of family.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 50 years, Jack Monroe McGee, daughter Alison Denner and husband Kevin Denner; granddaughter McKenzie Denner and grandson Kyle Denner, son Josh McGee and wife Krystall McGee; granddaughters Chloe Love, Keaton McGee, and Phoebe McGee, daughter Jackie McGee; granddaughter Rowan Arceneaux, and stepson Michael McGee; grandson Christopher McGee. Sister Rebecca Babbitt and husband Robert Babbitt and sister Tracey Grider and husband Paul Grider, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends

She is preceded in death by her eldest sister, Barbara Draper.

The family will gather for a memorial of Darlene's life Tuesday, September 21st, at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Rd, Houston, TX 77089. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
