Murphy Joseph Brock Jr. (Coonie), of Pasadena, Texas, passed away on October 27, 2023, one day after his 88th birthday.  He was born October 26, 1935 in Reserve, Louisiana to Murphy Joseph Brock Sr. and Beatrice Roussel Brock.

Coonie was proud to be an American.  He was drafted by the United States Army in May of 1954 and served in the Korean War.  After his army career, he moved back to Louisiana where he married Virgil Ayala in 1962.  They had two daughters, Darlene and Debra.  In 1964, they made their move to Pasadena, TX where he began his career in the automotive business at the local ford dealership.  In 1968 they had their son, Dennis.  Becoming a business owner was his goal and he purchased a full-service gas station in 1971.  He became a single dad in 1977.  He owned and operated the Hideaway Club in Pasadena for five years.  In 1989, he and Dennis became partners opening Coonie and Son Auto Repair which is now known as Brock Auto Repair.  He enjoyed working, making money, but most importantly he loved making lifelong friends at the shop.  Many of their customers are some of their closest friends today. A couple of mottos that followed them over the years was "The only thing we cannot repair is a broken heart" and "Don't Cuss – Call Us".

He loved his children and grandchildren and was so proud of all of them.

He is preceded in death by his parents Murphy and Beatrice Brock, his brothers Douglas Brock and Donald Brock and 3 of his nephews, Rocky Brock, Jason Brock and Jeff Brock.

Coonie is survived by his 2 brothers Gary Brock and wife Penny, and Gilbert Brock and wife Dot, and his sister Brenda Brock Bencel and husband Paul, his son, Dennis Brock and Kayla, his daughters, Darlene Middleton and husband Bert, and Debra Watkins and husband Rod, grandchildren Brandon Brock and wife Morgan, Ryan Brock and wife Brooke, Chance Cauthen and wife Faith, Kaylee Cauthen and Cameron Cauthen, Joseph Turner and husband Jesse, Tiffany Kendrick and husband Tony, Cody Davis and Leslie Blackford along with many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm  until 6:00pm, Friday, November 3rd, followed by a celebration of life at 6:00pm at Peevey Funeral Home 12440 Beamer Rd. Houston, TX  77089.
