Claudia Anne Atwood, went home to be with Jesus, November 14, 2023. She lived 87 years, was a devoted wife to the late Wayne Atwood, an incredible mother to James (Jim) and Sharon, a proud grandmother of five and great- grandmother of five.

Claudia, raised in Navasota, later attending college at Sam Houston State University, eventually ending up in Pasadena, Texas. She worked with her brother for 45 years in the family business that her dad started, J.A. Mills & Son Contractors as the office manager. Claudia had a degree and love for playing the piano and served as pianist at Lawndale Baptist, First Baptist of Pasadena and at Second Baptist Pasadena.

Claudia was known for many things: her strength, her joy, her love for others, her love for God, and her family and friends.  Her grandchildren were a great part of her life to the point of spoiling them dearly.  Through the difficulties of losing her husband, Wayne, after 50 years of marriage, she pushed through by focusing on her children, grandchildren, her friends that had experienced similar life experiences and her fascination of Elvis music. One of her life verses was, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13) She had a genuine care for others and hearing your most recent news. This brought her so much joy. Most of all, Claudia had incredible love and faith in Jesus Christ. He was the center of her strength, love for others and desire for service.

Claudia is missed by many but knowing that she is dancing in Heaven with Jesus, assures us in celebrating her life.  Well done good and faithful servant.

Claudia leaves behind her son, Jim Atwood (Laurie) of Pasadena, Texas; daughter, Sharon Ellis of Temple, Texas; five grandchildren: Matt Atwood (Tiffany) of Deer Park, Texas; Tim Atwood (Natalie) of Pearland, Texas; Courtney Ellis (Tony) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Brandon Ellis (Susan) of San Diego, California; and Cody Ellis of Belton, Texas; and five great-grandchildren: Bryson, Sophia, Kylie, Audrey and Austin.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel at First Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas (7500 Fairmont Parkway, Pasadena, Texas 77505) on Monday, November 20, at 11am.  Visitation for family and friends will be prior to the service at 10am. Following the service there will be a reception for family in the fellowship hall.
