Christine Juanita Clark was born on October 31, 1930, in Jack County, Texas. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on January 3, 2022. Though her 91 years on this earth were sometimes challenging, she found the good in everyone and everything.

Juanita's first passion was volleyball; she started playing in 1937 at the young age of seven. Her love of volleyball continued all through high school and into her young adult life. Her mother always said Juanita would rather play volleyball than eat! She was selected to join the Women's All-American Volleyball team in 1952, where they placed fourth in the National Tournament held in Columbus, Ohio. She continued playing semi-professional volleyball for the Houstonettes until her first pregnancy in 1954.

After moving to Houston, Texas in 1951, Juanita was proud to announce that her first job in the area was in the National Advertising Department with the Houston Chronicle. Shortly thereafter, she was introduced to the love of her life, Barney, through her favorite uncle, Cecil. They married on January 16, 1954 and shared 66 incredible years together, during which they welcomed four beautiful children.

Juanita was a modest and kind-hearted woman who enjoyed the simpler things in life. Her favorite pastimes were reading books and watching the Astros play. She loved playing various card and domino games with her family, including Skip-Bo and Forty-two. Barney and Juanita spent a month each year in Port Aransas where she was able to enjoy the sun rising/setting, well deserved rest and relaxation, and Barney's countless trips to the fishing pier. Family members often joined in on these trips, where many cherished memories were created. She is remembered fondly by all who met her as a happy, generous, and caring woman who always put her family first; more than anything, Juanita loved her husband and the family they created. She was proud to be called Grandma.

Juanita was preceded in death by her husband Barney Clark, mother Grace Brown, father Delmar Brown, brother Ray Brown, sister Betty Haigood, and daughter Vicki Clark. She is survived by her sons Larry and his wife Jackie, George and his wife Cynthia, and Jeffrey; her grandchildren Shane Riley, Angela Wells and husband Jason, Karen Solomon and husband Scott, and Kristen Goodson and husband Richard; her great-grandson Lincoln Goodson; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am., the service will begin at 11:00am., Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Peevey Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1101 Antoine Drive, Houston, TX 77055.

Juanita gave to several charities, such as American Red Cross, Children's Wish Foundation, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), and others. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you continue their giving spirit by donating to your favorite charity in her honor.
