Charles "Dickie" Richard Black passed away peacefully on December 18, 2021 at the age of 78 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones who will continue his legacy by living life to the fullest. Dickie was born January 14,1943 in Houston, Texas to the late Anita and Norris Black.

Dickie grew up in South Houston and attended South Houston High School. He married Mary Swearingen on March 17, 1962. In 1964 he decided to follow his fathers footsteps and joined the Houston Police department where he served the Houston community for 39 years. They were blessed with two children Carl and Tiffany. He retired from the police department in 2003 and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was a gentle and loving man who didn't speak much however, once he warmed up to you he was one of the best story tellers. He was a humble and generous man that loved and took care of his family better than any man. He was a shining example of what a father and husband should be. Dickie is survived by his wife Mary, son Carl Black and his wife Deann, daughter Tiffany Mulford and her husband Philip, grandchildren Haley Christensen her husband Richard, Justin, Riley and Kacey Mulford, great-grand children Saylor and Ripken Christensen, brother Wayne Black and wife Linda and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The graveside service for Dickie will be held at the Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale St. Houston, TX on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at 10:00 am. There will be a reception immediately following the graveside service at the Houston Police Officers Union, 1600 State Street Houston, TX, friends and family are encouraged to join us in celebrating Dickie's life.
