Carol Fran Stephenson Squyres was born in Ruston, Louisiana, on December 8, 1946 and passed away at her home in Pearland, Texas, at the age of 76, on January 25, 2023. She was the oldest child in a family of four. Fran graduated from Louisiana Tech University in 1967 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and taught in both Louisiana and Texas. In 1968, Fran married Jerry Squyres. They had three daughters and many cats and dogs over the 54 years of their marriage.

Fran was an elementary teacher in Pasadena Independent School District for many years. She enjoyed sharing in the success of her students both in her classroom and when they came back to visit her as adults.

Fran also enjoyed crafting and decorating for the seasons. She loved putting pictures together in albums for her family and her strength was in making her house feel like a home. When her daughters moved from one home to another or one office to another, she was the first to volunteer to help unpack and setup the new location.

Golf cart parades were her favorite activity in the neighborhood. She loved to decorate the golf cart and Barney, the dog, to match the theme. Fran and Jerry also hosted weekly Bible studies in their home for members of the neighborhood. They served in the local church as well as international mission ministry for more than 50 years.

One of Fran's favorite pastimes was to drive through Starbucks, get a coffee and then go to University of Houston – Clear Lake to count the deer. She loved how pretty their eyes were and it provided a relaxing time that she and Jerry could be together to talk.

Fran was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Joyce Stephenson and her sister, Beverly Canterbury. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jerry Squyres, daughters Alicia Upchurch (husband Marcus and daughter Elizabeth), Allyson Schaff (husband Chuck and children Alex and Nathan) and Angela Waggoner (son Cody) and Barney, the dog.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00am., Saturday, February 4, 2023 at First Baptist Church – Pasadena, with visitation one hour prior to the service.

A private graveside service was held at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Friday, February 3, 2023.
