Calvin Ray Ferguson, 80, of Pasadena, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on April 7, 2023, due to metastatic brain cancer, surrounded by family.

Calvin was born on August 26th, 1942 to Homer and Eloise Ferguson in Beaumont, Texas. He was the youngest of five siblings, and was raised attending South Park Baptist Church in Beaumont. He began working early in his life at a drive-in grocery and delivered newspapers by bicycle, buying his first car at 13. He graduated from South Park High School in 1961 and then graduated from Lamar College with an electrical degree. Before even receiving a draft notice, he joined the US Air Force for four years. Afterwards he worked many years at Western Union in Field Maintenance while living in Lumberton, Texas. He then went on to work for Kansas City Southern Railroad as a Field Engineer. This position took him to Northwest Arkansas for 13 years before retiring in 2012. He lived out his retirement in Pasadena, Texas and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Pasadena.

Calvin met Sharyn Young in 1963 on a blind date and were married later the same year. They were together for almost 60 years. They had one daughter and 3 sons, one of which died at childbirth. They had a variety of pets throughout their marriage but Calvin's best girl was a Frenchie named Molly.

Calvin is survived by his dear wife of 59 years, Sharyn Louise, daughter Shelly Govea and husband Edison, son Russell Ferguson and wife Becky, son Matthew Ferguson and wife Shannon, brother-in law Danny Young and wife Linda; grandchildren Devon Storay, Christian Govea, Edison Govea and wife Brenda, Steve Govea and wife Alexis, Geovanny Govea and wife Suzanna, Damian Ferguson and wife Alex, Hayden Ferguson and wife Haylie, Kenzie Derutte; great grandchildren Ariel Storay, Gabriel Storay, Jesse Govea, Elias Govea, Enrique Govea, Josiah Cisneros, Geovanny Govea, Jr., Julian Govea, and Reznor Ferguson.

Calvin was a kind and generous man, spending his own time to give help to others. He was extremely intelligent and enjoyed working on his computer, woodwork, and DIY projects at home. He loved bluegrass music and went to many bluegrass shows. He also loved baseball, an avid Astros fan. Recently he went to Washington DC because he had always wanted to visit the White House, but on all the trips he took with his family, he enjoyed and excelled at planning the itinerary of the day. He catered endlessly to his two surviving Frenchies, Daisy and Banjo. His Church family was very important to him, and especially the Tuesday luncheon where he and Sharyn gathered with friends. He was a great family man and a man of God. He will be greatly missed in the lives of all who knew him.

The service will be held at First Baptist Church Pasadena, Friday, April 14, at 11:00am, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
