Burton Lawrence Stockstill passed away peacefully on August 23, 2024 in Katy, TX. He was born in Waukegan, IL on September 4, 1926. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Esther Stockstill, and his wife of 70 years, Adele Margaret Stockstill.

Burt is survived by his children, Jennifer Dill and her husband, Tom, of Deer Park, Joel Stockstill and his wife, Jeannie, of Houston, TX, and Cliff Stockstill and his wife, Jennifer, of Katy, TX, as well as eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

After graduating from Zion Benton High School in 1944, he joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served under Admiral Chester Nimitz as a radioman at the end of World War II. He was Honorably Discharged in August of 1946 after earning the World War II Freedom Medal. Following his return to Zion, IL, he went to work and picked up courting his soon-to-be bride Adele Margaret Ditzig. They were married on his birthday in 1948.

Burt, Grandpa, and Papa will be remembered for his quiet demeaner and his unwavering love for Jesus and his family. He was a man of noble character who had the respect from everyone he knew, serving others with honor and humility.

He will be laid to rest on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 10:00am., in Houston, TX under the shade of a beautiful oak tree.
