Charles Ray "Buddy" Decker, age 65, was peacefully called home to The Lord on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Buddy was born in New Iberia, Louisiana on July 14, 1958 to Charles and Ruth Ann Decker. He and his big sister, Gayle Bienvenu, were raised by Jack Blanchard after Ruth remarried in 1975. Buddy also gained two sisters, Donna and Penny, and three brothers, Wayne, Chris, and Mike. He cherished the years spent with them, and loved getting to finally be a big brother. Jack forever held a special place in Buddy's heart, and was a fundamental influence in shaping the type of father that was Buddy was to become.

Buddy attended, and graduated from, Morgan City High School in 1976. He quickly followed in his grandfather's footsteps by starting a career in the Oil & Gas Industry; a career that would span over 50 years, culminating in him owning his own motor business with his family. During his time in the industry he made many life-long friends. Ron Richardson served as Buddy's mentor and friend at Stabil Drill, helping to shape his career and contributing to his success. Buddy left an indelible mark on his part of the industry, due to his character and integrity. His success can be attributed to how much he was respected by his peers.

Buddy is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Nancy; son Tobey and his wife Maria Decker and their 3 children Ryli, Noah, and Sebastian; daughter Stacy and her wife Michelle Rogers and their 2 children – Devynn and Preston; daughter Carey and her husband Sean Donnelly and their 6 children Indy, Jane, Daniel, Rollins, Reese, and Jemma; daughter Kinslea and her husband Brannon Morris and their 2 children Colton and Raylea.

He had many hobbies and interests, such as camping, hunting, and spending time outdoors, but he was most passionate about volunteering with his church and donating his time to people who needed it. Buddy found the most joy in his life spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. One of his favorite activities was coaching his kids' youth sports teams, and relaxing in his backyard watching his grandchildren swim in the pool.

Buddy was one of those unique individuals that lived a relatively simple life but made a profound impact in the lives of so many. He will be greatly missed by those that knew him. He will always be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor, and friend. Buddy lived his life to love and serve God and his family, and be a role model and provider, making the most of every day.

The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of prayers, generosity, and support received from friends and family, but most especially the love that has been shown. We are beyond thankful for each and every one of you.

The memorial service will be held at 11:00am Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Peevey Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service
