Brenda Jenkins Bishop passed away peacefully on August 30th, 2021 while at home surrounded by her family after a long and brave battle with breast cancer. She was born 68 years earlier in Austin, Texas to Polly and Howard Jenkins and lived a beautiful life as a beloved wife, mother, daughter and friend.

Brenda was the first born of four children on August 8, 1953. Her ambition, independence, and intelligence were only outshined by her love for others. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin she pursued a law degree at South Texas College of Law and became a very respected trial attorney. Eventually she and a law partner started their own practice in Houston where she remained a fearless defender of her clients.

After turning down his requests for a first date to focus on a big trial case, Brenda eventually agreed to go out with Jeff Bishop and in 1988 they were married. Jeff and Brenda enjoyed days on the boat down at Galveston Bay before moving to Pearland, Texas prior to the birth of their first child, Maggie. Brenda continued her law work until their next child, Eric, was born. At that time Brenda selflessly turned in the suits for lunchboxes and decided to stay home with her young children. Even though she stayed home, she maintained her independence and opted to have her third and final child, Beth, at home.

Brenda was not only a beautiful mother and wife but also a dedicated community member. She was always supportive of her children in their academic, sport, and extracurricular interests and especially enjoyed spending time with the Pearland High School choir. She was a champion of challenging young minds, inclusion, love, and acceptance. She always welcomed hard work and kindly denied any recognition for her contributions. She never met a stranger and even went out of her way to use her ability to learn language to relate to and help others. When her own children left the nest, she served as a volunteer court appointed foster care advocate with Brazoria County CASA. In this role she opened her heart to multiple children and families while helping them navigate the hardships of the foster care system.

Brenda loved learning almost as much as she loved serving others. In the later years, she studied homeopathy under the world's most respected practitioner and ultimately passed her exams to achieve a diploma in classical homeopathy. She took pride in using these tools to help her family and friends deal with life's challenges from a small cough to a wave of heavy grief and every ailment in between.

While she accomplished much in a short time, there is nothing Brenda loved more than her family. Brenda and Jeff celebrated 33 years of marriage in February 2021 and she enjoyed speaking with her mom daily. Despite her pride in their achievements, she could often be caught suggesting that all three of her grown children move back into the family house.

Brenda's life is a beacon of light under which the family feels blessed to continue to live. She is undoubtedly resting easy in the company of her father, brother, mother-in-law and grandparents. Brenda is survived by her husband Jeff, three children Maggie, Eric and Beth, her mother Polly Jenkins, her sisters Cathy Scott and Becky Wyatt, her sister-in-law Denise Jenkins, and many beautiful aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews and many, many friends. She will be loved and missed forever.
