Bobby Gene Shannon June 5, 1933 – May 12, 2025.

Everyone who knew Bobby, knew his love.  He embodied Matthew 6:21: "wheresoever your treasure is, there your heart will be also."  Bobby treasured his family and gave it his heart.  He and Joyce were together from their wedding day on November 20, 1953, through Bobby's final moments with Joyce at his side.  They were proud to have raised two daughters, who gave him precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren in abundance.  Any mention of them brought a familiar smile to his lips. His kids and grandkids alike were his heartbeat and his legacy.  Bobby's extended family kept annual traditions including holiday celebrations, and vacations.  He attended every soccer game, volleyball game, or sporting event possible.  Bobby was the biggest cheerleader for his kids through his great-grandkids.  His family was his joy.

Bobby also treasured the Lord, his long service first to Park Memorial Baptist where he was ordained deacon, and then since 1972 to Sagemont Church.  He served on the finance committee and Lord's Supper team, worked with young marrieds, and was an active greeter.  His special project was the Danbury Lodge, so important to various ministries.  Bobby trusted in Jesus at the age of 29, and has now met Him face to face. In life we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face know fully our Savior.  1 Cor 13:12. Bobby Shannon knew and knows his Savior.

Bobby was born in Buckholts, Texas, coming to Houston in 1942.  He served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged in 1957.  He had a long and successful career as a research lab technician in the geo-physics research laboratory at Shell where he was awarded for his research into interfacial tension in drilling projects. Bobby was a dedicated hunter and master handyman. He was a true gentleman, always willing to share his knowledge and wisdom. His legacy lives on in the family he loved and the memories they created.

Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Shannon, and mother, Nellie Powe, sister Lonnell Simmons and husband Tommy Simmons, brother Raymond Shannon and wife Pat Shannon. Bobby is survived by his beautiful wife, Joyce of 72 years, daughter Lana Price and husband Bob Price, daughter Leslee Kaspar and husband Craig Kaspar, grandchildren Kristin Kaspar, Katelyn Roos and husband De Wet Roos, Corbin Kaspar and wife Madison Kaspar, Grayson Shadwick and Reagan Shadwick, and great-grandchildren Leighton Rae, Josh and Landyn Roos. His cheerful attitude and bright smile will be missed by those he loved the most.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Sagemont Church, designated to the retired pastor fund or Danbury Lodge.

The celebration of life will be held at Sagemont Church, Saturday, May 24, at 11:00am., with visitation one hour prior to the service.
