Betty Jo Outland, age 81, was called home on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, in Pearland, Tx. Betty was born on March 12, 1940, in Blytheville, Arkansas. She was the oldest daughter of Esker and Ida Belle Coleman. Betty spent her early years in Arkansas where she loved going to school and playing basketball when she wasn't picking cotton. Farming moved the family around quite a bit and they eventually landed her in the St. Louis area where Betty started working as an administrative assistant. While living in Illinois she shared a house with her sister, Joy, who she loved dearly and was her very best friend. Betty and Joy would share stories of their adventures together and it always provided a good laugh, especially to them! Some of our best memories are listening to them reminisce about old times.

Betty would soon meet her husband, Gary, where a career opportunity moved the family to Texas in 1973. They settled in the Sageglen area where they lived for over 30 years. Betty spent most of her time as a homemaker taking care of her family. She was a wonderful wife and mother making sure her family was loved and well cared for. Once her children were grown, she embarked on a new career in banking as a financial advisor for Bank United/Washington Mutual. In her few years there she was very successful and earned many awards. Betty retired in 2005.

Of all the things Betty would want you to know, the most important time in her life was in May of 1982 when she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. That decision not only changed her life but the lives of her entire family and generations to come.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband Gary Thomas Outland, father, Esker Lee Coleman, mother, Ida Belle (Marcrum), sister Sandra Kay, and niece Heather Lynn. She is survived by her children Randy (Becky), Valeria, Pam (Bill), Benny, and Marsha (Randy) her grandchildren Courtnie (Ryan), Christie (Matt), Chase, Brittnie (Dustin), Caelan (Megan), Garrett, Abygail, Emmye, Jacob, Joshua, great grandchild Luke, and her sister Joy Arnall.

Betty's celebration of life will be held Monday, December 20, 2021, at 1:00pm., with visitation one hour prior to the service, at Peevey Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Rd. Houston, Tx 77089. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
