Our Matriarch was summoned home for a face-to-face meeting with her Lord. The meeting was the crown and wings issuing ceremony. Our precious mother, Betty Lou Cox Connett, 87, of Pasadena, TX made the journey with an angelic escort on October 30, 2021. She took her first steps on the streets of Gold later that same day.

Betty Lou was born in Houston, TX on July 20, 1934. She was the 9th child born to Everette and Olive Mae Cox.

She was greeted in heaven by her parents, her loving husband Jack Connett, daughter Sherrie Lynn Connett, Great granddaughter AnnaKathryn Susan Hall and a few of her siblings.

At the age of 20 Betty married her sweetheart Jack Connett SR. They were happily married for over 60 years until Jack was called home.

Betty loved to dance and won many dance competitions in her day with her husband Jack SR. When they were on the dance floor people would stop to watch! She was a natural entertainer.

Betty was a wonderful cook and could out cook us all in the kitchen. Her signature cornbread stuffing is now a family legacy. She has now passed on that legacy to her children and grandchildren to continue the tradition of one of her favorite recipes.

Betty lived in the Houston Heights where she raised her growing family for 16 years. She then moved to Liberty Hill, TX and worked for Halliburton in Austin, TX for many years in their factory until she retired in 1998. After her retirement she moved to a bay house in Galveston, TX with her beloved husband Jack SR. She enjoyed being retired and living her life to the fullest spending quality time with those she loved. She loved living the Island Life as they would call it.

Betty was also the avid shopper. You could catch her daily at her beloved JC Penney's or Target where she would love to buy all the latest fashions! She was quite the fashionista and rarely would you catch her without her makeup and hair done or her nails polished. She never left the house without putting on lipstick.

The family that she loved so much but were left here on earth are: Her brother Jerry Cox and Sister Etta Mae. Her (daughter) and caretaker Susan Gilley with her husband Michael Gilley of Pasadena, TX. Jack Thomas Connett JR of Corpus Christi, TX, and Ricky Connett and his wife Connie Connett of Montgomery, TX.

Betty loved being called Grandma and later in life GIGI by her great grandchildren. Betty has 5 grandchildren, Michelle Hall of Pasadena, TX, Jennifer Cuellar and her husband Lorenzo of Mont Belvieu, TX, Leah Connett of Round Rock, TX, Eileen Connett of Manor, TX, and Ricky Connett JR of Austin, TX.

Betty loved becoming a Great Grandmother and became quite close with them all. Evan Hall, Ava Hall and Dylan Olivares of Pasadena, TX. Sophia Cuellar, Stephen Cuellar and Morgyn Cuellar, Mont Belvieu, TX, Karly Beene of Round Rock, TX Emma Cuellar and Jack Cuellar of Manor, TX.

Betty was fortunate to have one great great grandchild, Nova Gabbard of Pearland, TX. She loved her deeply.

In Betty's later years she was a fan of her iPad, music, dancing, drawing pictures, playing chicken foot, Wahoo (don't touch her dice though!) as well as creating TikTok videos with her great granddaughters Ava and Sophia. She's become quite the celebrity.

Betty Lou Connett will be deeply missed by many.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Peevey Funeral Home Saturday, December 4, at 10:00am with visitation one hour prior to the service.
