Bert Saenz, 85, of Houston Tx, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, went to be with his Lord and Savior in the early hours of Monday June 27, 2022. He was born in the small town of Realitos Tx to Santurnino and Guadalupe Saenz. He is preceded by in death by his parents, his daughter Elda Perez, brothers Pedro Saenz, Librado Saenz, Antonio Saenz, sisters Lucia Salinas, Diamantina Perez, Inez Garcia, and Gloria Carrillo.

He is survived by his wife Glenda Saenz of 36 years, and their granddaughter that they raised together Crystal (David) Laughlin, Great granddaughters Kayla, Rylee, and Presley Laughlin. Daughters; Elva (Pete) Navejar, Edna (David) Salinas, Elida (Ronnie) Ramirez, Elsa (Richard) Contreras, Elma Rodriguez, step children Stephen (Kathy) Manes, Buffie Howell, Art (Carol) Howell and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Bert grew up outside of Corpus Christi Texas, where he was one of seven children. As a young adult he worked as a butcher for some time before moving to Houston. He moved to Houston in the early 80s and began a career with Shell Refinery in 1986 and retired in 2001.

The word of God was of high importance to Bert and he attended church every Sunday. He was a member of Lakewood Church for many years, before joining a church closer to home, Evangel Assembly of God. When that church had to close its doors he called Grace Church his home.

Bert liked cooking and watching sports. He especially enjoyed rooting on the Houston Astros and Dallas cowboys. He loved his family and friends, and enjoyed spending time with them.

The family rejoices in knowing that because of his faith in Jesus Christ, Bert is now in Heaven and praising God with those loved ones who have gone before him.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Peevey Funeral Home, Saturday, July 9, at 3:00pm.
