Bernardo Samuel Herrera was born on August 20, 1952 in Guayaquil, Ecuador. He was the youngest of 9 children. At the age of 16 he was inducted into the trio "Los Seguidores de Cristo" (The Followers of Christ) and traveled throughout Ecuador, Columbia, and other South American countries sharing the love of Jesus through music and preaching the Word of God.

After traveling throughout South America and seeing many miracles and souls won for the Lord, Samuel immigrated to the United States to continue spreading God's message of love and kindness through music ministry. Samuel helped establish the Spanish United Pentecostal Church in Rosenberg, Texas. He later relocated to Houston where he met his beautiful wife, Patricia. They were married on December 18, 1982. Together, they served as youth pastors for the Spanish United Pentecostal Church at Life Tabernacle and Samuel continued to organize the music ministry for multiple churches. Many ministers that came out of his youth group remember Samuel as someone who believed in them, encouraged them, and helped them focus on their own ministries.

In addition to Spanish ministry, Samuel also devoted many weekends to prison ministry. He believed in God's grace and mercy and was known for his kindness, gentle demeanor, and welcoming smile.

Samuel departed this world on September 30, 2021. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren in Houston, California, and Ecuador. He was the best Pops, and hislife and legacy will forever be cherished and honored by his loving wife, Patricia, children, Betzabeth, Samuel, Stephanie, and Ashley, sons-in-law, Victor and JD, and his grandchildren, Alejandro, Valentina, Dylan, Elijah, Everly, and Ezra.

He was always faithful in every area of his life, served humbly with a heart of gold, and the world is dimmer today without him. Heaven has gained a great, great man, and he is whole again in the presence of our mighty God.

The funeral service will be held at Greater Life Church, Friday, October 8th, at 6:30pm., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at 10:00am., Saturday, October 9th, at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster.
