Angela Nicole Piper Flenniken slipped the bonds of this life on December 9, 2022. She is now safely in the arms of Jesus and free from the disease that she fought so valiantly for six years. Nicole was born on June 19, 1976, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

She was a born singer and actress and simply a delightful human being. An enormously talented performer, she graced stages from Carnegie Hall in New York City to the pitcher's mound at Texas Rangers Baseball Park where she sang the National Anthem for a Rangers-Yankees baseball game. She also starred in many stage productions of Broadway musicals including two productions of Oklahoma, in which she played the female lead, Laurey. Other productions included, All That Jazz, Little Shop of Horrors, 1776, Shrek, Anything Goes, Guys and Dolls, and Odd Couple, many of which were staged at the Art Park Players in Deer Park, Texas. During her tenure as a music and dramatic arts teacher in the Deer Park Independent School District, she also produced and directed many productions with her students. Nicole has performed at banquets, conferences, theaters and churches all over Texas and in many other states. One of her favorite spots on the planet was Walt Disney World. It was a cherished get-away-from-it-all destination.

Nicole began her career as a classroom teacher Texas City, Texas followed by Clear Creek ISD. She then taught middle school in East Baton Rouge Parish Schools and moved on to teach in Alabaster, Alabama. She interrupted her classroom teaching career to serve as Minister to Middle School Students at Pasadena's First Baptist Church, where she had a profound effect on a generation of students. Returning to classroom teaching, she taught music and theater arts in Deer Park ISD. Following her medical retirement from DPISD, she returned to the staff of First Baptist Church of Pasadena to work in children's church and in pre-teen ministry. Children from all over the greater southeastern Houston area learned from her, admired her, and loved her.

Nicole graduated from Plano Senior High School in 1994 and was a proud graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with a B.A. in musical conducting. She held a Master's from the University of St. Thomas University in Houston in Educational Leadership. Nicole's devotion to LSU never waned. She was a "Fightin' Tiger" all of her life!

She is survived by her devoted husband of 18 years, Scott Flenniken. Nicole and Scott met while she was a student at LSU. He was by her side every step of the way as she fought bravely against cancer. Scott and Nicole were blessed with two loving, and very bright children, Carlee (Carolyn Loree), and Will (William David). The four Flennikens have been residents of Pasadena for more than 15 years. Nicole Piper Flenniken was born to Rev. Don and Eva Piper of Pasadena, Texas. She was the first-born baby among all of Don and Eva's friends, and thus became the "child" of all of their families. She was deeply loved then, and she is now. Nicole is also survived by her father and mother-in-law, Steve and Sue Flenniken of Sulphur, Louisiana.

Nicole also leaves beloved twin brothers Christopher and Joseph Piper. Chris is married to Whitney Rasberry. They have two sons, Lochlan and Maddox. All are residents of League City. Joe is married to Courtney Piper. They have two daughters, Penny and Pressley. All are residents of Deer Park. Nicole was very devoted to her brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and they loved her dearly.

She is further survived by Eddie Pentecost of Bossier City, Louisiana, Alan Piper of Doyline, Louisiana, and Steve Piper of Princeton, Louisiana, all of her uncles.

Nicole was pre-deceased by her beloved maternal grandparents, M/Sgt. Eldon and Ethel Pentecost, and her beloved paternal grandparents, M/Sgt. Ralph and Billie Piper.

The Piper and Flenniken families would like to express our sincere appreciation to the staff and students of Deer Park ISD; Dr. Tannir, Zita, and the caring staff of M. D. Anderson Hospital; and our entire church family, First Baptist-Pasadena, especially, Dr. Charles Redmond, Dr. Jon Redmond, and Jennifer Phillips. During these past six years, you are the ones who provided so much support and wisdom while Nicole gracefully endured cancer treatment. It is our firm conviction that God noticed. We certainly did. And a special word about Nicole's mother, Eva. Her faith never wavered. She was there all the time. No matter how long the odds, how late the nights, mom was beside Nicole. They were best friends in life and will be best friends in the life to come.

Many would testify to the incredible courage with which Nicole faced her life-threatening illness. She was passionate about life until the very conclusion of it. Nicole was admired, respected, cherished, and hopefully for generations to come, emulated. Until we meet again one day at the Gates of Heaven, she will be greatly missed here on earth. There's a new soprano in Heaven and her name is Nicole!

A celebration of Nicole's life will be held at Pasadena's First Baptist Church, January 7th, at 1:00PM under the direction of Peevey Funeral Home. Prior to the memorial service, an hour of visitation will occur.
